This Sunday we are thrilled to welcome back Richard Stanmeyer, with Will Carroll (drums) and Jack Corcoran (bass)!
Richard Stanmeyer is a trumpet player who grew up in the Berkshires and is based in Boston, MA. Hailed as a "trumpet prodigy" by Berkshires Jazz, he has performed with internationally renowned musicians such as Steve Davis (trombonist with Art Blakey) and Belle & Sebastian. He has performed at venues including Symphony Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival, and in July and August of 2022 he taught and performed with his group in Morelia, México, including performing a sold-out show at the city’s cultural center, Centro Cultural Allende 637.
Richard was commissioned in November 2022 by Berkshires Jazz and Milltown Capital to compose an original jazz composition for the 2023 10X10 Upstreet Winter Arts Festival in Pittsfield, MA. The original composition, “Make Me,” was performed on February 25th 2023 at the Berkshire Museum as a part of the festival, and featured Richard Stanmeyer on trumpet, Eugene Uman on piano, Mary-Ann McSweeney on acoustic bass, and Conor Meehan on drums. Richard Stanmeyer currently studies at New England Conservatory in Boston on a full-tuition Helena Foundation Presidential Scholarship for his master’s degree in jazz studies.
He is delighted to perform at Dottie’s Coffee Lounge, sharing the stage with local heavyweights and close friends Henry Carroll on drums and Jack Corcoran on acoustic bass. The set includes original compositions by Richard Stanmeyer, and arrangements of repertoire from the Great American Songbook.
